Our farms

FARM KALY

One of our aquaponic farms is located in Moravia, in the village of Kaly, north of Brno. The original derelict object and its surrounding lands have been revitalized and adapted for their new purpose. Although the farm is primarily focused on the production of food of the highest quality, it also serves for research and presentation purposes. Scientists from the Academy of Science, as well as students from several domestic universities, are housed on the farm, which provides aquaponic education programs, as accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. In addition, we also test new technologies and search for ways to further reduce energy consumption and operating costs at the site. We help nature by therefore operating the farm without the use of power generated through the burning of fossil fuels.

On the farm, we focus on freshwater fish breeding, in particular rainbow trout, which is very popular among Czech consumers. In the part with plants, we grow mainly leafy vegetables and herbs; a small piece is reserved for algae such as spirulina or chlorella. The indoor part of the farm produces year-round crops; the outdoor cultivated area is primarily used for the cultivation of seasonal produce.

Our aquaponic products are available, subject to agreement, directly from our farm. However, you can also enjoy them in Brno and its surroundings. For more information visit https://www.farmiafood.cz/.

FARM BRNO HERŠPICE

In the Heršpice district of Brno, you will find the largest commercial aquaponic farm in the Czech Republic to date. A brownfield site was used for its construction. Today, you will see a reconstructed hall and greenhouses, which are heated as much as possible with solar power. A vertical farming system, with heating, cooling and winter light, is used in part of the greenhouses, thereby enabling year-round food production. We breed African catfish from the family of thermophilic fish; in the plant section, we grow leafy vegetables. A special area has also been dedicated to growing aquaponic seedlings, which we plan to distribute to our other farms.

Products from this aquaponic farm primarily find their way to consumers in Brno and its surroundings. We are also planning to use mobile shops for distribution purposes.

LETONICE FARM

The aquaponic production farm in Letonice, east of Brno, is the third Czech project of the Future Farming group. With the building of this new aquaponic farm on a greenfield site, Future Farming reaches another milestone in the journey to a green-blue future of healthy food. The construction of the Letonice farm connects the possibilities of cutting-edge
technology in the field of vertical farming with the advantages of building specifically for the needs of aquaponic farms. The Letonice aquaponic farm produces greens and herbs in symbiosis with the raising of African sharptooth catfish.

FARM PŘEROV NAD LABEM

Our fourth aquaponic farm in the Czech Republic is beginning to take shape on a two-hectare piece of land in Přerov nad Labem. Since we didn't have a production farm in Bohemia, we were looking really hard for a suitable brownfield site to construct it on. We mainly focused on locations that would allow us to supply the capital city of Prague with aquaponic food. From this point of view, Přerov nad Labem represents a strategic locality. The great advantage of this agricultural site consists in its ideal parameters for building another aquaponic infrastructure. The site includes renovated greenhouses with an area of 5,000 square metres, which we would like to use for growing aquaponic vegetables as well as freshwater fish-farming.

FARM SENICA

Our first foreign venture is located in Slovakia, in Senica, north of Bratislava. The farm is located on a revitalized brownfield site, which we have adapted to meet the needs of aquaponic farming. Similarly to the Czech Republic, state-of-the-art technologies are applied to intense fish breeding and the planting of various types of vegetables and herbs. The production is intended for the local market.

Farms economically - the word of the director

What is our strategy and future vision?

We finance aquaponic farm projects from several different sources. For the majority of projects, we use equity investments. These investors buy the necessary equipment from us, which we take care of for 20 years in our or the investor's premises. This form of cooperation brings us both income from the sale of technology, as well as from the production of the farm itself. It is important to mention that our main business is running farms and selling food. The great advantage for us is that this form of investment does not incur any investment costs, but only operating costs. We also provide capital for them.

We co-own large farm projects with private investors. Here we share profit and costs - for example, the acquisition of the necessary real estate, aquaponic technologies, stocks and feed for fish or vegetable plants. Of course, the know-how remains under our brand. In the future, this form of cooperation makes the most sense and the investor will achieve the most interesting appreciation of the capital.

Smaller private investors, who need, for example, to supplement their investment portfolio with an alternative sector, can also participate in aquaponic farm projects, . In order to enable them to invest in our projects, we have prepared so-called green bonds for them. We also use bank capital to finance our projects. Bond capital and bank capital are mainly used to finance the operation of farms.
